Avocado CLI

Install the Avocado CLI to generate images and video from your terminal, price a job before you spend, and install the Avocado MCP in one command.

The Avocado CLI lets you generate from your terminal and install the Avocado MCP server into your coding agent in one command. Install it with npm, sign in through your browser, and you are ready. More on the CLI page.

How do I install it?

You need Node 18 or newer. Run:

npm install -g @avocado-ai-co/cli

How do I sign in?

Run avocado auth login. It opens your browser, and after you sign in it saves a scoped key to ~/.avocado/config.json on your machine.

How do I install the MCP server?

Run avocado mcp install --client claude-code or avocado mcp install --client cursor. This adds the Avocado MCP server to that client.

How do I generate?

  • Image: avocado generate "your prompt".
  • Check the price first: add --estimate to see the credit cost before spending anything.
  • Video: avocado video starts a video and returns a job id. Check it with avocado job followed by the id.

Generations use your normal credits and are saved to your workspace.

How do I revoke access?

Run avocado auth logout, or revoke the key in your account settings at API keys.

When to use the CLI or the MCP server

  • Use the CLI when you want to script generations or run them straight from a terminal.
  • Use the MCP server when you want an assistant such as Claude Code or Cursor to decide which tools to call.

Many people use both: the CLI to install the MCP, and the MCP for day to day work in their coding agent. Both use the same credits as the app, and everything is saved to your workspace and gallery.
