How I Made a Cinematic Short Film With Seedance 2.5 and Avocado AI Director Mode
I didn’t start this project with a finished script, a storyboard, or one giant video prompt.
I started with an idea.
A boy overwhelmed by the noise of the city.
A worn storybook.
Another world.
A strange protector.
And something hidden beneath the streets.
That idea eventually became The Noise Beneath the City, a 45-second cinematic trailer created through Avocado AI Director Mode using Seedance 2.5, image generation, music generation, title design and timeline editing.
The interesting part was not one generation.
It was the production process that came before it.
Final Shot
You can inspect the entire Director Mode production
I’m sharing the complete Flows canvas used during the production so anyone can inspect the assets, references, generations and structure directly.
This article breaks down what happened inside that production, including the real prompts used for the cast, locations, storyboard beats, Seedance generation, music and title sequence.
The creative brief
The story followed Noah, a 13-year-old boy overwhelmed by the noise and pressure of the city.
Through a worn storybook, he enters another world and meets Kiwi, an imaginary protector.
Together they eventually return to the city, where they encounter Apollo, a white panther leading a mysterious group of powerful creatures.
The desired visual language was:
painterly dimensional concept art
angular faceted forms
graphic shadow shapes
tactile materials
grounded cinematic realism
chaotic rainy urban environments
restrained solarpunk details
anamorphic blockbuster cinematography
emotional storytelling mixed with action
We explicitly wanted to avoid:
generic cyberpunk
glossy CGI
superhero styling
random fantasy effects
The biggest production decision came early.
Identity needed to be locked before generating scenes.
Phase 1: Locking the cast
Instead of repeatedly describing characters from scratch, Director Mode created canonical character sheets.
Each sheet was designed as a production reference with:
front view
side view
back view
face close-up
expression studies
These became the visual authority for later image and video generations.
Noah
Prompt used
Canonical identity reference sheet for Noah, a real Black 13-year-old boy. Preserve the supplied existing-character-pack identity: authentic child proportions, warm dark skin, expressive observant eyes, natural short textured Black hair, cream hoodie under a dark weathered jacket, olive cargo pants, practical sneakers, comfortable over-ear headphones, crossbody book satchel, and worn storybooks. Show the same character in front, side, and back full-body views at identical scale, plus a large face close-up and 3 expressive studies. Neutral flat studio background, even lighting, no scene, no story action, no text. Use the supplied Paint World direction: painterly dimensional concept art, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile materials, controlled texture, cinematic anime-inspired framing without copying any existing character. Keep Noah clearly 13, never adult-looking, never superhero-like.
The important instruction was preserving Noah as a real child instead of allowing the model to age him up or turn him into an action hero.
Kiwi
Prompt used
Canonical identity reference sheet for Kiwi, Noah’s imaginary friend and protector. Preserve the supplied existing-character-pack identity: compact heavy bear-like build, stocky humanoid anatomy, dark blue-gray faceted body and face, pale expressive eyes, broad ears, short muzzle, large branching antlers, large feet, and a dark cloak-like mane or neck ruff. Show the same character in front, side, and back full-body views at identical scale, plus a large face close-up and 3 gentle protective expressions. Neutral flat studio background, even lighting, no scene, no story action, no text. This sheet defines the identity shared by both his small child-torso book form and his approximately two-meter city form, so preserve anatomy and palette exactly. Paint World direction: painterly dimensional concept art, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile materials, controlled texture. Never make his face white or pale, never use a mascot design.
Kiwi had two forms, but both needed to share the same anatomy, face, colors and defining features.
Apollo
Prompt used
Create Apollo’s definitive canonical character identity sheet using the attached white panther character as the primary identity source. This is a faithful character-sheet rebuild, not a reinterpretation and not a generic white panther. Preserve the attached character’s exact recognizable face, head shape, facial expression language, white faceted panther anatomy, body proportions, silhouette, clean white fur with natural gray shading, entirely black oversized layered outfit, garment construction, draped panels, wrapped waist, black footwear, wrist details, accessories, and overall attitude. Preserve the outfit design and its visual hierarchy exactly from the reference, adapting only the presentation into a clean production sheet. Show the same Apollo in front, side, and back full-body views at identical scale, plus a large face close-up and three expression studies: controlled, intelligent, and taunting. Neutral flat studio background, even lighting, no environment, no story action, no extra characters, no text. Paint World visual language: painterly dimensional concept art, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile materials, controlled texture, cinematic anime-inspired framing without copying any specific existing character. Apollo must remain a white panther and his fur must stay clearly white in every view. This sheet is the primary identity reference for all future Apollo scenes and for the outfit language of his team.
Apollo became the most important identity lock in the project.
His white fur, face, proportions and black layered outfit were treated as non-negotiable.
Rhino
Prompt used
Canonical identity reference sheet for Apollo’s rhinoceros ally. Design an original powerful rhinoceros creature in the same Paint World visual language as the supplied character pack: broad armored silhouette, heavy grounded anatomy, distinct horn structure, intelligent controlled presence, dark restrained visual language coordinated with Apollo but not a copy. Show front, side, and back full-body views at identical scale, plus head close-up and 3 personality expressions. Neutral flat studio background, even lighting, no scene, no story action, no text. Painterly dimensional concept art, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile materials, controlled texture. Distinct silhouette, no random magical effects, no glossy CGI, no generic monster.
Elephant
Prompt used
Canonical identity reference sheet for Apollo’s elephant ally. Design an original massive elephant creature in the same Paint World visual language as the supplied character pack: monumental scale, powerful readable silhouette, heavy grounded anatomy, intelligent ancient presence, darker controlled visual language coordinated with Apollo but not a copy. Distinct from Apollo, rhino, and jaguar, no random magical effects, no glossy CGI, no generic monster.
Jaguar
Prompt used
Regenerate the canonical identity sheet for Apollo’s jaguar ally. The attached Apollo reference is the strict outfit authority. Preserve the jaguar as a sleek, lean, powerful feline with a distinct predatory silhouette, intelligent alert face, and clearly jaguar anatomy. Adapt Apollo’s locked outfit language directly to the jaguar: entirely black layered wrap garments, structured oversized upper layers, controlled draped panels, wrapped waist construction, gathered or cropped lower layers adapted for agile feline movement, rugged black footwear or fitted leg treatment, restrained wrist details, matte tactile black materials. The outfit must feel like the same coordinated faction and visual world as Apollo, not generic armor, cyberpunk clothing, superhero clothing, or a random costume. Keep the jaguar visually distinct from Apollo through feline proportions, rosette patterning, head shape, stance, and mobility. Show the same character in front, side, and back full-body views at identical scale, plus a head close-up and 3 expressions: watchful, calculating, predatory. Neutral flat studio background, even lighting, no scene, no action, no text. Paint World direction: painterly dimensional concept art, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile materials, controlled texture. The Apollo reference controls outfit silhouette, layering, black palette, material language, and restraint.
Alien Snake
Prompt used
Regenerate the canonical identity sheet for Apollo’s alien snake ally. The attached Apollo reference is the strict outfit authority. Preserve the creature as an elongated, alien, non-human snake entity with unusual head and neck geometry, a strong serpentine silhouette, and an intelligent unsettling presence. Adapt Apollo’s locked outfit language directly to the snake’s anatomy: entirely black layered wrap garments, structured draped panels following the long torso, wrapped waist construction, asymmetrical hanging fabric, matte tactile black materials, restrained wrist or upper-body details where anatomically appropriate, and black fitted sections that allow serpentine movement. The result must feel like the same coordinated faction and visual world as Apollo, not a generic fantasy snake, cyberpunk creature, glossy CGI monster, or random armor. Do not give it human legs or a humanoid body. Keep the alien snake clearly distinct through its elongated anatomy, unusual head, neck geometry, and controlled movement. Show the same character in front, side, and back full-body views at identical scale, plus a head close-up and 3 expressions or poses: observing, calculating, threatening. Neutral flat studio background, even lighting, no scene, no action, no text. Paint World direction: painterly dimensional concept art, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile materials, controlled texture. The Apollo reference controls outfit silhouette, layering, black palette, material language, and restraint.
Phase 2: Locking the locations
Once the cast was stable, Director Mode created canonical environment references.
These were not just backgrounds.
They were location authorities designed to keep the visual world consistent across different beats.
Main City World
Initial prompt
Canonical location and world reference for the main city in The Noise Beneath the City. Use the supplied city-world images as the primary visual reference for the environment’s architecture, composition, material language, and atmosphere. Create a wide cinematic establishing view with no characters and no readable text: dense layered urban buildings, wet reflective streets, tangled overhead cables, traffic systems, construction equipment, elevated walkways, harsh mixed practical lighting, heavy rain haze, fragmented signage without legible words, rooftop gardens, planted balconies, solar fabric, reclaimed wood and metal, small wind systems, and imperfect water collection infrastructure embedded into the city. The city must feel alive, crowded, noisy, industrial, emotionally oppressive, and visually overwhelming, while remaining grounded and believable. Preserve the reference’s distinctive world structure rather than inventing a generic cyberpunk city. Solarpunk details should feel like imperfect attempts to create balance inside the chaos, not a peaceful utopia. Paint World visual language: painterly dimensional and faceted architectural forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile wet materials, controlled texture, cinematic anime-inspired framing without copying any existing anime, restrained science fiction, grounded urban realism. No characters, no creatures, no vehicles dominating the frame, no holograms, no neon cyberpunk excess, no glossy CGI, no readable text.
Main City World, definitive reference
Prompt used
Create the definitive canonical location reference for the main city world in The Noise Beneath the City. Use both supplied city-world images as direct location references and match their visual structure, urban architecture, composition logic, weather, and atmosphere closely rather than inventing a generic city. Combine the reference’s rain-soaked street-level intersection with traffic signals, wet reflective asphalt, layered roadside infrastructure, overhead cables, construction scaffolding and equipment, dense faceted building blocks, distant high-rise silhouettes, and the reference’s elevated rooftop view with solar panels, rooftop gardens, planted terraces, imperfect utility structures, and broad hazy city depth. Build one coherent wide establishing environment with no characters and no readable text. The city must feel crowded, alive, industrial, noisy, and emotionally oppressive because Noah experiences its traffic, voices, construction, lights, cables, rain, and buildings as overwhelming. Preserve grounded urban realism, harsh mixed practical lighting, rain haze, reflective surfaces, tangled infrastructure, and restrained solarpunk details embedded imperfectly within the city. Do not turn it into sterile cyberpunk: no excessive holograms, no neon overload, no floating sci-fi architecture, no glossy CGI. Paint World visual direction: painterly dimensional concept art, angular and faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile materials, controlled texture, cinematic anime-inspired environmental framing without copying any specific anime. This is the primary world reference for future street, rooftop, walkway, construction-zone, and pursuit scenes.
Noah’s Bedroom
Prompt used
Canonical location reference for Noah’s bedroom in The Noise Beneath the City. Warm, intimate, lived-in teenage bedroom at night, no characters and no readable text. Worn storybooks scattered and stacked near the bed, a practical book satchel, headphones resting nearby, simple bed, desk, shelves, tactile personal objects, warm amber lamp light, rain-covered window, and the approved outside-world city visible beyond the glass. The city presses inward through distorted reflections, vibrating surfaces, fragmented light, and rain haze, but the room remains emotionally protective and grounded. Match the approved real-world city reference for the exterior architecture, cool blue-gray rain, warm practical lights, dense buildings, and believable infrastructure. Paint World influence only in painterly dimensional surfaces, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, and tactile materials. No characters, no fantasy effects, no futuristic bedroom, no holograms, no readable writing.
Book World
Prompt used
Canonical location reference for the Book World created through Noah’s imagination and reading. Wide environment with no characters and no readable text. Tactile roots, quiet dark water, angular stone forms, old trees, hand-built bridges, soft hills, plant-covered structures, a central reading place, small mechanical curiosities, and subtle luminous elements. The world feels warm, mysterious, organic, ordered, and emotionally safe, contrasting with the chaotic city without becoming childish, bright, whimsical, or generic fantasy. Painterly dimensional concept art, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile materials, controlled texture, cinematic atmospheric composition, restrained luminous details, grounded handcrafted construction. No castles, no medieval kingdom, no characters, no random magic effects, no glossy CGI, no readable text.
Rainy Street Search Zone
Prompt used
Canonical location reference for the rainy street search zone in The Noise Beneath the City. Derive it directly from the approved outside-world city reference. Wide street-level environment, no characters and no readable text: rain-soaked intersection, wet reflective asphalt, traffic signals, overhead signal arms, thick suspended cable bundles, layered industrial buildings, service entrances, narrow side passages, construction barriers, practical street lights, cool blue-gray rain haze, and warm windows and lamps. Create readable search paths and reflective surfaces where the hidden rhythm of the city could be sensed. Physically believable, crowded, noisy, oppressive, grounded near-future city. Paint World only as subtle painterly dimensional and faceted surface treatment. No fantasy effects, holograms, neon overload, glossy CGI, or characters.
Elevated Walkways and Rooftops
Prompt used
Canonical location reference for elevated walkways and rooftops in the same approved outside-world city. Wide environment, no characters and no readable text: elevated pedestrian walkways, rooftop access paths, wet metal grating, planted rooftop gardens, solar panels, utility housings, imperfect reclaimed structures, construction access, signal towers, cable bundles, distant high-rises, and dangerous vertical depth through rain haze. Preserve the approved reference’s realistic architecture, cool blue-gray atmosphere, warm practical lighting, wet reflective materials, and grounded near-future infrastructure. The solarpunk details are imperfect attempts at balance inside a dense oppressive city. Paint World only as subtle painterly dimensional surfaces, angular forms, graphic shadows, and tactile texture. No floating architecture, no excessive neon, no holograms, no glossy CGI, no characters.
Construction and Infrastructure Zone
Prompt used
Canonical location reference for the construction and infrastructure zone in The Noise Beneath the City. Derive the environment directly from the approved outside-world city reference. Wide industrial passage, no characters and no readable text: crane structures, scaffolding, concrete barriers, wet service road, construction equipment, exposed steel, thick cable bundles, drainage channels, utility conduits, temporary work lights, partially built building shells, rain curtains, blue-gray haze, and hard warm lamps cutting through the darkness. The space should feel physically real, dense, vibrating, noisy, dangerous, and emotionally oppressive. Preserve grounded near-future urban infrastructure and the reference’s architecture and lighting balance. Paint World only as subtle painterly dimensional surfaces, faceted forms, graphic shadows, and tactile wet materials. No fantasy machinery, holograms, neon overload, glossy CGI, or characters.
Apollo’s Hidden Gathering Chamber
Prompt used
Canonical location reference for Apollo’s hidden gathering chamber beneath or behind the approved city infrastructure. Wide environment with no characters and no readable text. A concealed underground or infrastructural chamber formed from concrete, steel, drainage channels, cable roots, service tunnels, structural columns, and a large controlled central gathering space. Access from the city should feel hidden behind construction and utility systems. Dark, organized, threatening, and architectural rather than a fantasy cave. Include rainwater entering through cracks, distant vibration from traffic above, restrained reflected street light, deep shadow planes, and enough open floor and vertical structure for Apollo’s team to gather. Preserve the approved outside-world’s realistic industrial materials and grounded near-future logic. Paint World influence: painterly dimensional concept art, angular faceted forms, graphic shadow shapes, tactile concrete and metal, controlled texture. No characters, no creatures, no thrones, no magical glow, no generic evil lair, no glossy CGI, no readable text.
Phase 3: Creating the storyboard
With the cast and locations locked, Director Mode created a full visual sequence containing 16 cinematic beats.
Each beat prompt did four things:
identified the characters
identified the location
described the action and emotional state
specified continuity rules
Beat 1: The Noise Outside
Cinematic still, Beat 1: The Noise Outside. Noah, the exact Black 13-year-old boy from his canonical character sheet, sits on the bedroom floor beside the bed, surrounded by worn storybooks, wearing his headphones and consistent clothing. Rain covers the window. The faithful outside-world city glows beyond the glass with traffic signals, cables, construction, wet reflections, and dense buildings. Distorted reflections and vibrating surfaces suggest sensory pressure without fantasy effects. Intimate but oppressive composition, Noah small against the window, painterly dimensional faceted concept art, grounded cinematic realism, no text.
Beat 2: The Reading
Cinematic still, Beat 2: The Reading. Noah, the exact canonical Black 13-year-old boy, sits in his warm bedroom and opens the same worn storybook. The room is calmer around the book while rain and the dense city remain visible through the window. Close attention on Noah’s hands, the worn pages, headphones, and intimate amber light. No Kiwi visible yet, no readable text, no fantasy action. Painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Beat 3: The Book Threshold
Cinematic still, Beat 3: The Book Threshold. Noah, the exact canonical boy, leans toward the open worn storybook as the warm bedroom begins to transition into the Book World sanctuary. Roots, quiet water, angular stone, and the central reading place emerge through the pages, while the bedroom remains visibly behind him. This is a visual threshold, not a generic portal or explosion. No Kiwi yet, no readable text, painterly tactile faceted concept art, intimate mysterious lighting.
Beat 4: Kiwi Appears
Cinematic still, Beat 4: Kiwi Appears. Noah, the exact canonical boy, recoils in surprise beside the central reading place in the Book World sanctuary. Kiwi slowly rises from the open book in his small child-torso-height form. Kiwi must remain dark blue-gray including his face, with pale eyes, broad ears, short muzzle, branching antlers, large feet, and dark neck ruff. Gentle mysterious emergence, no attack, no white face, no text, painterly faceted tactile concept art.
Beat 5: Noah Explains
Cinematic still, Beat 5: Noah Explains. Noah and small Kiwi face each other beside the quiet water in the Book World sanctuary. Noah is thoughtful and overwhelmed but not helpless. Kiwi gives him space and listens protectively without touching him. Preserve Noah’s exact identity and Kiwi’s dark blue-gray face, antlers, ears, pale eyes, and neck ruff. Warm ordered atmosphere contrasting with the city, no text, painterly faceted cinematic concept art.
Beat 6: Kiwi Reassures Him
Cinematic still, Beat 6: Kiwi Reassures Him. Small Kiwi sits calmly near Noah in the Book World sanctuary, leaving respectful space between them. Noah’s posture begins to open. Kiwi’s expression is gentle, watchful, and protective. Preserve exact Noah identity and exact dark blue-gray Kiwi identity, including face color, pale eyes, broad ears, short muzzle, branching antlers, and dark neck ruff. Quiet water and warm lantern-like light, no touching, no text, painterly tactile faceted concept art.
Beat 7: Apollo’s Revelation
Cinematic still, Beat 7: Apollo’s Revelation. Noah and small Kiwi stand in the Book World sanctuary as the real city becomes visible beyond a dark opening or reflective threshold. Kiwi looks toward the city while explaining the hidden beast Apollo. The atmosphere darkens subtly through city reflections, trembling cables, and distorted rain, not magical energy. Preserve exact Noah and Kiwi identities. No Apollo visible yet, no text, painterly faceted cinematic concept art.
Beat 8: The Decision
Cinematic still, Beat 8: The Decision. Back in Noah’s bedroom at night, Noah closes the worn book, places it into his crossbody satchel, and looks toward the rain-covered window with quiet determination. Small Kiwi stands nearby with him, supportive and giving space. Preserve exact Noah and small Kiwi identities and the bedroom layout. The faithful outside city is visible beyond the window. No text, painterly grounded faceted cinematic concept art.
Beat 9: The Search Begins
Cinematic still, Beat 9: The Search Begins. Noah, exact canonical Black 13-year-old boy wearing headphones and carrying his book satchel, walks through the rainy street search zone with small Kiwi beside him. They move through wet reflections, signal structures, cables, service entrances, and dense layered infrastructure. Noah listens for a pattern while Kiwi watches the surroundings. Preserve exact identities and grounded outside-world architecture, no text, painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Beat 10: Apollo’s Trap
Cinematic still, Beat 10: Apollo’s Trap. Apollo, the exact white panther from his canonical sheet, stands across a wet street from Noah and small Kiwi. Apollo’s entirely black oversized layered outfit, face, white fur, proportions, and silhouette must be preserved exactly. He is calm and confident in the rain, with distorted reflections and vibrating infrastructure around him. Noah and Kiwi stop and face him. Grounded tension, no glowing powers, no text, painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Beat 11: The Attack Feint
Cinematic still, Beat 11: The Attack Feint. Apollo, the exact white panther in the entirely black layered outfit, makes a sudden controlled lunge toward Noah and small Kiwi, stopping just before contact. Kiwi shields Noah with his small body without changing identity. Apollo’s white fur remains clearly white and his face and outfit remain faithful to the canonical sheet. The moment is tense and controlled, not a real impact, no blood, no random powers, no text, rain-soaked street and distorted infrastructure, painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Beat 12: The Chase Begins
Cinematic still, Beat 12: The Chase Begins. Apollo runs ahead through the construction and infrastructure zone, his white fur and entirely black outfit clearly readable in the rain. Noah and small Kiwi follow behind him through scaffolding, cranes, barriers, cable bundles, drainage, and hard work lights. Apollo looks back to ensure they follow. Preserve exact Apollo, Noah, and small Kiwi identities and the approved city infrastructure. No magic, no text, painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Beat 13: Kiwi Grows
Cinematic still, Beat 13: Kiwi Grows. In the construction and infrastructure zone, Kiwi grows from his small book-form into his full approximately two-meter guardian form. The transformation is physical and story-driven, with the same dark blue-gray face, broad ears, short muzzle, pale eyes, branching antlers, large feet, and dark neck ruff preserved exactly. Noah stands close in awe and concern. The city darkens through rain, vibration, cables, and scale, not magical energy blasts. No random powers, no white face, no text, painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Beat 14: Riding Kiwi
Cinematic still, Beat 14: Riding Kiwi. Full-size approximately two-meter Kiwi lowers his body safely so Noah can climb onto his back. Noah holds onto Kiwi’s dark neck ruff or secure shoulder area, wearing the same headphones, clothing, and satchel. Kiwi’s dark blue-gray face and body, antlers, ears, pale eyes, short muzzle, large feet, and identity remain exact. They are on wet elevated walkways and rooftops with solar panels, utility structures, rain haze, and vertical city depth. No attack, no magic powers, no text, painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Beat 15: The Pursuit
Cinematic still, Beat 15: The Pursuit. Full-size Kiwi carries Noah across wet elevated walkways and rooftops through the approved city’s rain and infrastructure. Apollo runs ahead across a connected rooftop route, looking over his shoulder with controlled confidence. Preserve exact Apollo white panther identity and entirely black layered outfit, exact Noah identity, and Kiwi’s approximately two-meter dark blue-gray guardian form. Include solar panels, planted roofs, cable bundles, construction access, distant towers, and dangerous vertical depth. No random powers, no text, painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Beat 16: The Gathering Place
Cinematic still, Beat 16: The Gathering Place. Apollo stands inside his hidden industrial chamber beneath the city with his coordinated team waiting in the shadows: the powerful rhinoceros, sleek jaguar in Apollo’s all-black layered outfit language, massive elephant, and elongated alien snake in Apollo’s all-black layered outfit language. Apollo remains the exact white panther with his canonical face, proportions, white fur, and entirely black outfit. The chamber is concrete, steel, drainage, cable roots, columns, and controlled central space with rainwater and reflected city light. The team forms a distinct coordinated group, not random monsters. Noah and full-size Kiwi arrive at the entrance as small readable figures, with the team reveal dominant. No thrones, no magical glow, no readable text, painterly faceted cinematic realism.
Phase 4: Turning the storyboard into a Seedance 2.5 trailer
The first major video generation used Seedance 2.5 reference-to-video.
The goal was not to animate every storyboard frame separately.
Instead, the locked cast references, city reference and selected storyboard frames became a multi-image reference set for one coherent trailer.

Full Seedance 2.5 trailer prompt
Create a cinematic 20-second trailer for The Noise Beneath the City using the supplied reference images as strict authorities for character identity, environment, story continuity, and visual style. Preserve every named character’s identity, anatomy, face, proportions, clothing, color, scale, and relationships. Preserve the approved rainy urban world, Book World contrast, industrial infrastructure, and hidden gathering chamber. Do not redesign, merge, duplicate, or replace characters. No readable text, subtitles, logos, or invented dialogue. Trailer progression: open intimate and emotional with Noah, the exact Black 13-year-old boy with headphones, books, satchel, cream hoodie, dark weathered jacket, olive cargo pants, and sneakers, alone in his bedroom at night as rain vibrates the window and the chaotic city presses inward. Cut to the worn storybook opening and a mysterious physical threshold into the Book World, showing roots, quiet dark water, angular stone, hand-built bridges, and the central reading place. Kiwi emerges in small book-form beside Noah, remaining dark blue-gray across face and body with pale eyes, broad ears, short muzzle, branching antlers, large feet, and dark neck ruff. Noah chooses to leave. Match cut from page texture to rain in the approved city. Noah and Kiwi search through wet streets, traffic structures, cable bundles, construction barriers, and dense infrastructure. Reveal Apollo across a rain-soaked street: the exact white panther with white faceted fur, canonical face and proportions, and entirely black oversized layered outfit. Hold on his calm, intelligent, taunting presence. Apollo makes a sudden controlled attack feint toward Noah that stops just before contact as Kiwi shields him. No impact, blood, injury, or magical powers. Accelerate into an action-packed pursuit through scaffolding, cranes, drainage, elevated walkways, rooftops, solar panels, planted roofs, and dangerous vertical depth. Kiwi grows physically from small form into his approximately two-meter guardian form, preserving the same dark blue-gray face and body, pale eyes, ears, muzzle, antlers, feet, and neck ruff. Full-size Kiwi carries Noah across the rooftops while Apollo runs ahead and looks back. End with an emotional, powerful reveal inside Apollo’s hidden industrial gathering chamber. Apollo stands in controlled shadow with his coordinated team: the distinct rhinoceros, sleek jaguar in Apollo-aligned black layered clothing, massive elephant, and elongated alien snake in coordinated black layered clothing. Noah and full-size Kiwi arrive at the entrance as readable silhouettes. Finish unresolved and inviting, on Apollo and the team in deep controlled shadow. Use trailer pacing with an intimate emotional opening, mysterious threshold, escalating search, sharp Apollo reveal, controlled threat, kinetic rooftop movement, guardian transformation, and final ensemble reveal. Use anamorphic composition, painterly dimensional faceted concept art, grounded urban realism, tactile wet materials, graphic shadow shapes, rain haze, volumetric practical lighting, restrained solarpunk details, deep contrast, shallow depth of field, elegant editorial rhythm, slow push-in, macro book detail, match cut, lateral street tracking, low-angle Apollo reveal, brief handheld urgency, sweeping rooftop pursuit, and a final slow dolly into the gathering chamber. Preserve clear spatial causality and readable silhouettes throughout. No generic fantasy, glossy CGI, superhero styling, neon cyberpunk excess, holograms, random magical effects, duplicated or merged characters, white-faced Kiwi, adult-looking Noah, or altered Apollo fur color.
The 20-second render became the foundation for the later timeline edit.
Phase 5: Creating the music
The trailer needed music that could move between emotional isolation, mystery, action and an unresolved final reveal.
A 30-second score was created first.
A 60-second version was later created for the longer assembled edit.
[ADD SCREENSHOT: MUSIC GENERATION]
60-second music prompt
A 60-second cinematic action-emotional trailer score for The Noise Beneath the City. Begin with intimate felt piano, fragile low strings, restrained rain-like atmosphere, and deep drones expressing Noah’s isolation and the mysterious Book World. Build into rising orchestral tension with pulsing strings, distant brass, and a subtle heartbeat as Kiwi and Apollo enter the story. Escalate into powerful hybrid trailer percussion, deep taiko impacts, low aggressive strings, metallic industrial hits, and urgent rhythmic momentum for the confrontation, fight, guardian transformation, and rooftop action. End with a massive dark orchestral swell, commanding brass, choir-like atmosphere without intelligible vocals, and a resonant unresolved final chord for the closing poster and sequel hook. Dramatic, intelligent, emotional, mysterious, dark, cinematic blockbuster trailer energy. No lyrics, no lead vocals, no comedy, no cheerful pop melody, no EDM drop.
The final score became a reusable asset inside the production flow and timeline.
Phase 6: Designing the closing title
The first idea for the closing image was a confrontation poster featuring the main characters.
That direction changed.
The final treatment became a text-only title poster on a black background using monumental stone typography.
Three variations were explored.
Direction 1: Monumental Stone
Cold silver-gray carved stone typography with faint blue-gray edge lighting.
Direction 2: Mythic Inscription
Dark charcoal stone lettering with muted aged bronze highlights.
Direction 3: Fractured Obsidian
Dark slate and obsidian-like letters with mineral cracks and restrained internal blue-gray light.
The selected direction was Monumental Stone.
Selected title poster prompt
Create a 16:9 cinematic title poster with a pure black background and the exact title text: “THE NOISE BENEATH THE CITY”. Typography is monumental, ancient, mythical, and stone-carved, like weathered primordial stone inscriptions shaped into bold cinematic letterforms. The text must be perfectly legible, spelled exactly, centered with strong title hierarchy, and occupy the central composition. Use carved beveled stone texture, subtle chips, cracks, and shallow relief. Choose a restrained cold silver-gray stone color with faint blue-gray edge lighting and minimal atmospheric dust. Match the approved painterly dimensional faceted concept-art language with graphic shadow shapes, tactile material detail, deep contrast, and premium blockbuster title design. Black background only, no characters, no environment, no extra words, no logos, no subtitles, no watermark, no decorative symbols that compete with the title. The result should feel mythical, mysterious, powerful, and cinematic.
Phase 7: Creating the title formation animation
After selecting the poster, Director Mode created a matching earlier state.
The goal was to make the final title appear as if it formed from darkness.
Formation-frame prompt
Create a matching title-formation start frame from this exact poster. Preserve the exact title text, typography design, letter shapes, layout, spacing, black background, stone material, lighting direction, color palette, and cinematic visual style. Do not redesign the typography or add any text. Show the title at an earlier formation stage: the stone letters are only partially assembled and emerging from darkness, with some letter sections incomplete, broken stone fragments suspended around the forming letter shapes, fine stone dust drifting, subtle cracks beginning to connect, faint blue-gray illumination catching the unfinished bevels, and the rest of the composition disappearing into blackness. The result should clearly feel like the opening frame immediately before the complete poster resolves, while keeping the title recognizable and perfectly spelled: THE NOISE BENEATH THE CITY. No characters, no environment, no logos, no subtitles, no watermark, no extra symbols, no excessive glow.
The start frame and completed poster were then passed to MiniMax H3 as first and final frames.
Title animation prompt
Animate the title formation from the partially assembled stone lettering in the start frame into the exact completed title poster in the end frame. Preserve the exact typography, letter shapes, spelling, layout, black background, stone material, cold silver-gray color, subtle blue-gray edge lighting, cracks, bevels, and cinematic composition. Over five seconds, suspended stone fragments drift and lock into place, fine stone dust moves through the darkness, cracks connect across the unfinished letters, and the title resolves cleanly and powerfully into the completed final poster. Keep the camera nearly locked with only a subtle cinematic push-in. No characters, no environment, no extra words, no logos, no subtitles, no watermark, no music, no vocals, and no added visual elements. The final frame must match the supplied completed poster exactly.

What worked
The biggest lesson was that visual continuity came from building references before scenes.
The workflow worked because:
Noah had a canonical identity before appearing repeatedly
Kiwi’s two forms were defined under one visual identity
Apollo’s white panther design and black outfit were explicitly locked
Apollo’s team used a coordinated faction language
the city had its own canonical environment
every beat defined character, location, action and emotion
Seedance received selected visual references instead of text alone
the title poster was treated as its own design asset
the title formation frame came from the selected poster
the title animation used both a start frame and an end frame
What failed
Loosing consistency for image editing, at times you need to review the image editing for beats to ensure no context is lost
Video generation: sometimes when not using the seedance 2.5 skills, the video may drift and generate background music even tho the prompt says not to.
Assembling the final film
The final 45-second edit was assembled from:
the successful 20-second Seedance 2.5 generation
selected stills
the cinematic score
the title animation
timeline editing
The Director Mode production philosophy
The process ended up following a simple order:
Lock identity
Lock the world
Build the storyboard
Animate what needs motion
Add sound and music
Build the title treatment
Assemble the edit
This is different from asking a video model to invent an entire film in one request.
Director Mode acts more like a creative production assistant.
It keeps track of:
which image defines a character
which image defines a location
which frame belongs to a story beat
which references belong in the next generation
which assets belong to the same visual world
The result does not become good simply because AI was used.
It improves because the creative process has structure.

The final result
The final trailer came from a connected visual production system rather than a collection of unrelated generations.
The cast, locations, storyboard, video, music and title animation all came from the same locked creative world.
